O'Hare Taxi Terminal 2

Terminal 2 sits between Terminals 1 and 3 and is the smallest of O'Hare's domestic terminals. Its compact footprint means the walk from baggage claim to the lower-level pickup lane is shorter than at Terminal 1 or 3.

Where a Pre-Booked Taxi Meets You at Terminal 2

Diagram of the O'Hare lower-level arrivals curb: inner lane is the metered taxi stand, center lane is signed Car Services / TNP where pre-booked taxis meet you, outer lane is buses and hotel shuttles. Terminal 5 uses Vestibule 5D or 5E.
Where a pre-booked taxi meets you at O'Hare Terminals 1, 2 and 3 — the center lane, not the taxi stand.

Terminal 2 pre-arranged pickup is on the lower level, center lane (Car Services / TNP). This is the part most O'Hare pickup guides get wrong: the taxi stand at the curb front is for metered street-hail cabs. A pre-booked car is a livery vehicle, and the Chicago Department of Aviation only permits liveries to meet passengers at the designated pre-arranged area.

Terminal 2 is scheduled to be rebuilt as part of the O'Hare 21 Global Terminal programme, and the construction timeline has shifted more than once. Gate and airline assignments here change more often than at the other terminals, so confirm your terminal on your boarding pass on the day you fly rather than relying on a previous trip.

Terminal 2 Pickup, Step by Step

  • 1. Land and collect your bags. Do not call from the gate — the driver cannot hold at the lane.
  • 2. Call dispatch on (224) 333-2462. You will be given the vehicle description, plate number and the exact door to walk to.
  • 3. Walk to the lower level, center lane (Car Services / TNP). Follow the signs for pre-arranged or livery pickup, not the taxi stand.
  • 4. Allow 5 to 20 minutes. Livery vehicles wait in designated lots across from the terminals, so arrival time varies with airport traffic.

If your inbound flight is reassigned to a different terminal after you have booked — which happens at O'Hare more than travellers expect — text dispatch the change. The pickup point moves, the fare does not.

Terminal 2 Taxi Questions

Where does a pre-booked taxi pick up at O'Hare Terminal 2?+
On the lower level in the designated pre-arranged pickup area, center lane (Car Services / TNP). Rideshare pickup at Terminal 2 uses the upper level with orange-marked poles, but livery and pre-booked taxi service is lower level only.
Is Terminal 2 closing for the Global Terminal project?+
Terminal 2 is planned for redevelopment under the O'Hare 21 programme, but the schedule has been revised several times and the terminal is operating. Check your boarding pass for your current terminal before travel day.
What if my flight arrives at Terminal 2 but I booked for Terminal 3?+
Tell dispatch. Terminal assignment changes do not affect your published fare — the driver simply meets you at the correct lower-level lane instead.
Can I book a Terminal 2 departure drop-off as well as a pickup?+
Yes. Drop-offs use the upper-level departures curb at Terminal 2. Round trips can be arranged on one booking and each leg is confirmed separately by dispatch.
