How Does Airport Pickup Work at O’Hare and Midway?

An airport pickup is booked in advance and charged at the same flat rate as a ride out — from $65 at O’Hare and $82 at Midway — so you are not bidding against every other passenger who just landed.

You give dispatch your flight number when you book. The driver is assigned against the live arrival time, so a delayed flight does not cost you the ride and does not change the fare. Before you land you receive the driver’s name, phone number and vehicle. At O’Hare Terminals 1–3 you meet the car in the centre lane of the lower level arrivals curb, signed for car services; Terminal 5 uses Vestibule 5D or 5E. Midway has one terminal, so pickup is the lower level arrivals curb. Payment is made directly to the driver; the website takes no card details at any point, and you should never send card numbers through the booking form, by email or by text.

How Airport Pickup Works

Landing after a long flight is stressful enough. The last thing you want is to search for a car or deal with an unexpected surge price. Our airport pickup service is designed to be the simplest, most reliable part of your trip home.

Step 1 — Book in advance. Provide your flight number, arrival airport, and home city. We need at least 8 hours' notice to estimate driver availability, though we accommodate same-day pickups by phone when possible.

Step 2 — We watch your flight. From the moment your inbound flight departs, we track it in real time using live flight data. If your flight is early, on time, or delayed by hours, your driver's schedule adjusts accordingly.

Step 3 — Driver meets you curbside. You'll receive a text when your driver is at the pickup area with their name, vehicle, and exact location. No searching, no waiting at the wrong door.

Step 4 — Straight home. Your driver loads your luggage and takes you directly to your front door. Pay on arrival — cash, card, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App.

Pickup Locations — O'Hare (ORD)

  • Terminals 1, 2, 3: Lower level (Arrivals). Walk out the doors and look for the center lane marked "Car Services / TNP." Your driver will be in this lane.
  • Terminal 5 (International): After clearing customs, exit through Vestibule 5D or 5E on the lower level. Your driver will be waiting outside the vestibule doors.

Pre-arranged pickup does not use the taxi stand — this is the part people get wrong

A pre-booked livery vehicle is not permitted to collect you from the departures level or from the metered taxi queue. There is a separate designated area, and it is on the lower level at both airports.

  • O'Hare Terminals 1, 2 and 3 — lower level, center lane, signed for Car Services / TNP. Walk out through the baggage claim doors and cross to the middle island; the outer lane is buses and the inner curb is the taxi stand.
  • O'Hare Terminal 5 — lower level, Vestibule 5D or 5E, in the commercial vehicle lane.
  • Midway — lower level, center lane, in the pre-arranged / Car Services area outside baggage claim.

Terminal construction and lane assignments at ORD change more often than any printed guide keeps up with, so rather than asking you to trust a page you read three weeks ago, dispatch sends the current meeting point along with your driver's name, vehicle and plate.

The sequence that works: land, collect your bags, then call dispatch, then walk out. Livery vehicles wait in a holding lot and are called forward once you are at the curb — the airport's own guidance is 5 to 20 minutes for that leg. Calling from the gate does not speed it up.

How Flight Tracking Actually Protects You

The single biggest reason to pre-book a pickup rather than hail one

When you give dispatch your airline and flight number, your booking stops being tied to a clock time and starts being tied to your aircraft. If you land two hours late, the pickup moves two hours. If you land forty minutes early, dispatch sees it and the driver is brought forward.

You are not charged for a delay you did not cause. That is worth stating plainly, because it is the opposite of how a metered vehicle or a wait-time-billing service behaves. A diverted flight, a long taxi to the gate, a slow bag belt — none of these generate a fee on a tracked pickup.

Where it matters most: international arrivals into O'Hare Terminal 5, where immigration and customs can take anywhere from twenty minutes to well over an hour with no way to predict which; winter weather, when arrival banks stack up and every passenger on three aircraft requests a car simultaneously; and late-night landings, when a missed connection to ground transport means there is no train and no shuttle to fall back on.

Getting Home Late at Night From the Airport

When the trains have stopped and the shuttles have finished

Chicago's airports run around the clock; the ground transport around them does not. Metra stops entirely well before midnight and does not resume early enough to help a 1am landing. The CTA Blue Line runs overnight from O'Hare, and the Orange Line does not run all night from Midway — and neither serves suburban destinations. Hotel and parking shuttles largely finish by 11pm.

For a late arrival into a suburb, that realistically leaves rideshare, the taxi stand or a pre-booked car. Rideshare between roughly 11pm and 5am is the classic surge window, made worse when weather has delayed several arrivals into the same hour. The taxi stand thins out late — a queue that was five minutes at 6pm can be twenty-five at 1am, and drivers are not obliged to take a 40-mile suburban run at the end of a shift.

A pre-booked flat fare removes both problems: the driver is already assigned to you specifically, and the published rate does not move with the hour, apart from a disclosed late-night fee between 10:00 PM and 4:45 AM. For anyone landing late with children, car seats or a week of luggage, this is the difference between going home and standing on a curb.

Your pickup fare is identical to your drop-off fare. If Crystal Lake to O'Hare is $91, then O'Hare back to Crystal Lake is $91. There is no airport-departure premium, no return surcharge and no difference for landing at midnight instead of noon, apart from the disclosed late-night fee.

That symmetry is worth more than it first appears, because the return leg is exactly where the alternatives get expensive. You are arriving with a fixed, unpredictable landing time into a market where every other passenger on your aircraft wants a car at the same moment. Demand pricing responds to that; a published fare does not.

Booking both legs at once is the simplest way to handle a round trip — dispatch holds both, tracks the return flight, and you are not trying to arrange a ride on airport wifi after a long flight. Give them the outbound and return flight numbers together.
