Most hotel shuttles run on a set loop — every 20 to 30 minutes is typical — rather than picking you up the moment you're ready. If your flight lands at an odd hour, or your hotel's shuttle has limited overnight service, you may be waiting well past your actual arrival time.
Multiple Stops Before You're Actually Moving
A shuttle usually serves several hotels or picks up several rooms' worth of guests on one run, so your ride to the airport may include stops that have nothing to do with your own trip — worth padding into your timing if your flight is early or tight.
Only Useful If You're Already at That Hotel
A hotel shuttle only solves the hotel-to-airport leg. If you're coming from home, a suburb, or a different hotel without shuttle service, it's not an option at all — which is the majority of airport trips for Chicago-area travelers.
